It has been years since I tried painting, and it shows. I have started work on my World Eaters but they are looking rough. I am using my old RT era Marines right now, but I may have to strip and re-paint them after I practice a bit. Sorry for the bad pics, these are from my phone in my basement work room. You can see the new marines in the background with their base coats applied.
I also received my Ultramarine codex in the mail today, one of my recent ebay wins. So not all bad news today...
I had a similar experience to you, I had about an 18 month (forced) break from painting. I was nervous as fuck about picking up a paintbrush for the first time again. Took me a few months until I got back into the swing of things.
