Test cases (Sons of Moloch)

I received my Army Painter Skeleton Bone primer today, and decided to try a couple of test cases for my Sons of Moloch Warband. I am going with the base of skeleton bone with white over that base coat to see what kind of effect I get.

So here are the before and after shots of my test subjects. (I should mention my naming is being done by taking words from Aramaic and tweaking them a bit).

#1 Sergeant Zwar (means "to deliver a blow, hit")

#2 Veteran Warrior Babta (means "pupil of the eye")

I will let them sit over night before I start painting tomorrow, I also have a jar full of models soaking in simple green that should be ready for the brush tomorrow. I have a lot of work ahead of me for this project, but I am enjoying it very much.

I have started working on the galaxy at large, and have determined the nearest neighbors to the Ugarit system:

Lagash - Ork held territory in the eastward marches of the galaxy.
Abydos - Human (represented by Eldar models in my campaign) in the southwest marches.
Mycenae - Human (will be represented by different space marine legions) territory in the western marches.

Here are the current rules for Sons of Moloch Marines

Sons of Moloch Veteran Squad (33 points per model): Use Ultramarines rules for Veteran Squads.

Sons of Moloch

I am working on my own version of the Galaxy of Man, trying to get away from canon 40k. My galaxy is fought over by various kingdoms of star systems (based on ancient cultures). The main system is UGARIT, home to the Most Holy Ilu - King of Ugarit and the nearby systems.

ILU is a god-like being ruling with an iron fist from his home, he has created 7 divine beings to rule his legions. They are:

Moloch (The Eater of worlds)
Anat (The Mother of fury)
Dagon (The Wolf of the wilderness)
Mot (The Angel of death)
Yam (The Lord of terror)
Baal (The Bull of the heavens)
Ehsmun (The Host of serpents)

Each will have their own army lists eventually, but first I am working on The Sons of Moloch (Eater of Worlds). Obviously I am sticking with the blue/white colors of the World Eaters, but the army list will be a mash up of various 2nd edition lists.

Yesterday I spent most of the evening putting together some chaos marines, and normal marines. My army will have models from both (the chaos marines will represent Veteran squads, hence the more decorated armor).

The Eld are now being re-branded for my Egyptian equivalent that I am working on in tandem. I will post more on them after soon.

Found the complete horde...

Now I have found all of my old Eldar and Ork forces, taking a quick count we have:
ORKS: 34 figures
ELDAR: 78 (+2 war walker pilots without walkers)

Some quick snaps:

The Eldar Horde

Today I found an old shoe box full of Eldar and Orks. I was hoping I didn't lose this box, so many old models in there. I need to strip the Eldar and repaint them one day, they were never well painted to begin with and years of mis-use have left them looking rough.

Here are 16 guardsmen (I don't think these models were part of the "aspect" warriors, but I could be wrong), also I have 5 striking scorpions, I was very happy to find this lot.

Painting some World Eaters (Crusade / Pre Heresy style)...and I need practice.

It has been years since I tried painting, and it shows. I have started work on my World Eaters but they are looking rough. I am using my old RT era Marines right now, but I may have to strip and re-paint them after I practice a bit. Sorry for the bad pics, these are from my phone in my basement work room. You can see the new marines in the background with their base coats applied.

I also received my Ultramarine codex in the mail today, one of my recent ebay wins. So not all bad news today...

Taking stock of 2nd edition WH40k.

I have located all of my Warhammer 40k 2nd edition rules / books. I have the Dark Millennium box set (which contains all the cards and templates from the main box) along with the rules, codex imperialis, wargear, Space Wolves codex, and the Angels of Death codex.

I have recently found (rather cheaply) the Chaos codex, and the Eldar codex on ebay; they should be arriving in the mail soon.

Now to get back to painting marines...
